Lauren Wainwright ’88

Lauren Wainwright ’88 returned to Indian Springs in 2017 after successful careers spanning corporate law, private equity, theater production, and postsecondary education. In 1993, Lauren graduated from Wesleyan University Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Classics. After earning a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1999, she clerked for Chief Judge Carolyn King in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She worked as a corporate lawyer until 2011 at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York and London and as Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Goldman Sachs. Her passion for theater led her to earn an MFA at Yale School of Drama in 2014; she then served as Executive Director for several New York theater companies, including the Tectonic Theater Project, and as a lecturer in law and management at Yale School of Drama. At Springs, Lauren teaches classes in American Government and Constitutional Law & Civil Rights and serves as faculty advisor to student government while also directing strategy and special projects. In this role, she devises strategy and long-range plans and executes on Springs’ broad vision for educational innovation, while also promoting new opportunities and facilitating special projects related to strategic initiatives.
