New Faculty/Staff

Dr. Patrick Cook joins our history department where he will teach ninth-grade world history and electives in Roman worlds and 19th- and 20th-century colonialism. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from University College London and completed his M.Phil and Ph.D. in Ancient History at the University of Cambridge. He was also a Klingenstein Fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University. He most recently taught history at TMI Episcopal School in San Antonio, Texas. 

Alonia Fulgham joins us as assistant dean of students and as part of our history department where she will teach economics and Latin American history classes. She first joined the Indian Springs community in spring 2024, where she gained experience in Dr. Clinkman’s classroom while finishing her graduate studies. Alonia holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of West Alabama. We are delighted to have Alonia return to Indian Springs in a full-time capacity.

Curtis Phillips joins us as the new dean of students and a member of our science department, where he will be teaching physics. Prior to joining the faculty and staff of Indian Springs, he taught in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New Jersey. Curtis’ experience portrays a wide array of teaching, coaching, and administrative positions, including middle school teacher, high school teacher, athletic director, academic development center and peer tutoring program director, and academic dean. Curtis holds a bachelor's in secondary education physics from Slippery Rock University. Curtis, along with his wife Dawn and daughter Mia ’27, have moved on campus as part of our residential life community.  

Dawn Phillips joins us as the director of development, where she will work closely with our advancement team. She has spent the last 30 years fundraising and managing teams in the not-for-profit sector and independent schools. Dawn was a member of the administrative faculty at Woodberry Forest School for 12 years serving as the Assistant Director of the Annual Fund, Director of Parent Engagement, and Director of Stewardship. She has also served as Assistant Director of the Annual Fund at Shady Side Academy and most recently as the Director of the Annual Fund at George School. Dawn holds a bachelor's degree in business communications and public relations from Carlow University. As previously mentioned, Dawn has moved on campus with her husband, Dean of Student Curtis Phillips, and their daughter, Mia ’27.

Mallory Barry will temporarily join our arts department in the photography classroom while Madison Miller is out on long-term leave. Mallory recently completed her BFA in studio art with an emphasis in photography, video, and imaging at the University of Arizona and is eager to bring her experience to Indian Springs. She and Ms. Miller have been working hard, collaborating and preparing for her time in the classroom. 

New Roles

Clayton Colvin ’95, joins the dean’s office as associate dean of students. Clay will continue to teach art and serve as chair of the arts department.

Mandy Griffin continues her work in the admission office, having been promoted to admission associate. Mandy has served as admission assistant on a part-time basis for the past two years. 

Erica Richie continues her work in the communications office. She was promoted to associate director of communications after serving as communications associate for the past three years.
