Picard ’23, Shrestha ’23 Named Heisman School Winners

Indian Springs seniors Elise Picard ’23 and Sovan Shrestha ’23 have been named School Winners in the 2022 Heisman High School Scholarship Competition.

The Heisman Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding college football player in the nation. The Heisman High School Scholarship extends the Heisman prestige to the nation’s most outstanding high school student-athletes. Applicants must be graduating in the class of 2023, have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least one sport, and be leaders on the field as well as in their schools and communities.

Elise is an elite runner on Indian Springs’ cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field teams winning a bronze medal at each state championship event last year. She is also a leader in student government at Indian Springs. 

Sovan is a member of the Indian Springs’ boys varsity soccer team which won back-to-back state championships in 2021 and 2022. He previously ran cross country and also participated in student government. 

School Winners will advance to their respective state competitions for a chance to win $1,000 scholarships. State Winners continue to the national competition, where finalists receive $2,000 scholarships, and two winners receive $10,000 scholarships.
