Whether you act, sing, dance, paint, design sets, sew costumes, run a light board, or just love to see a good play, you will find a home in Indian Springs’ theatre program.
Our theatre program teaches budding actors to hone their acting, movement, voice, and technical theatre skills. We do more than ten productions every year. The fall play and spring musical are open to everyone. Recent productions have included
Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play,
The Tempest, and
The Rocky Horror Show.In addition, each December, the Play Production class for seniors mounts six to eight student-directed one-act plays. Embracing the school’s motto of
Learning through Living, more than 40 actors, stage managers, and technicians uphold this cherished Indian Springs tradition, working tirelessly under the leadership of their senior directors to produce thought-provoking and entertaining one-acts.
Our Acting I and II classes also present short showcases of their semester’s work. Acting I students perform classic comic sketches; Acting II students present prepared scenes and monologues. Our Stagecraft classes build and paint sets in our spacious scene shop, then run shows from our “crow’s nest”—the best seats in the house—high atop our John Badham Theater.
In addition to our on-campus student offerings, our top-rated private school theatre department also hosts visiting guest actors and directors to work with students throughout the year. Faculty also offer field trips to enjoy plays and musicals at local professional, community, and college theaters.
